I don't care what anyone says, the southwest is beautiful!!! Having grown up in Massachusetts, for many years living in Arizona I took for granted the beauty around me. I just saw cactus and dirt, no ocean, no green trees, no fall leaves......just dirt! The longer I live here (almost 30 years now), the more beauty I see and would not change it for anything. The people and culture are unbelievable.
We spent the day at San Xavier Mission watching a Pow Wow and dance competition among many tribes. The Indian culture has always fascinated me. I want to learn as much as I can about it's people and culture. I wanted to share a few of the more than 850 photos I took today, many of which will turn into drawings I'm sure. Kind of makes me want to paint with all the gorgeous color though! Who knows maybe I will!

Hi fellow Tuconian,
Wow, great photos! Such lucious colors, an artist dream. lol. I had no idea this event was going on. That's what I get for having my head stuck in the studio.
Congratulations on your Art Institute piece, it's lovely. It seems you've got several pieces in shows.. good for you!
I've got my CPSA deadline the end of this month, after that I want to do something a little different. I'm thinking of playing with some plein air stuff. I need to get out of the studio. Do you belong to any local art groups?
Beautiful work, I'll check back often!
Thanks Toni,
I did not hear about it until the night before either. A friend told me it was going on. I don't believe they advertised.
I have an email out to a friend on the art groups, and I sent an email to your website email address on a sketch group! Have fun in the studio! if I hear about any other events out there I will send you a quick note!
Jennie, these are just amazing photos. That new camera lens is outstanding, as is your eye! You are on fire - can't wait to see what you will do with these great photos.
Wow. These photos are fantastic.
Thanks Amy, yes the lens was worth every pennie!!
Thanks Kerrie! Hope things are good, and freelance is plentiful.
Your photo's make me want to pick up a paint brush, the colours are fantastic and just begging to be painted.
Tell me about it Grahame, I'm dying to break out the watercolors, which was actually my first love. I don't want to get side tracked, which I'm famous for and then I never get anything done. One of these days though ............ !
And I'm sure your red fox will come out great. I noticed you do exceptionally well with animal portraits. Can't wait to see it!
